European Bowling Tour 2007 LogoThis weekend sees the final of the EBT Brunswick Euro Challenge at Strike Bowling Club, Thessaloniki, Greece. Sixty four bowlers qualify for the final with the top 16 getting a bye to the second round.

Osku Palermaa topped the qualifying bowling 1430 which included a 300 game. European rankings leader Paul Moor qualified decond with 1428 and Britt Brondsted third on 1406. Dominic Barrett shot 1388 to take 10th place with Tim Mack 12th on 1302, Darren Cundy 15th on 1377 and Stuart Williams 16th on 1376. Kirsten Penny qualified 25th with 1350 and Matt Giles 38th with 1330. Zara Glover, Daniel Fench and Lee Miller failed to qualify for the final. Also qualifying for the final were Kimmo Lehtonen, Tomas Leandersson, Kai Virtanen and Anders Ohman.

In the first round of the final, positions 17 to 64 bowled 6 games with the 16 highest scores going through to the next round. Marcus Berndt shot 1401 to take the top spot with Remy Ong second with 1387. The cut came at Kai Virtanen with 1294 just making it through on the high game rule. Kirsten Penny (1281) and Matt Giles (1171) missed out.

The final now switches to best of 3 games head to head matches.Osku Palermaa defeats Kai Virtanen 2-0, Paul Moor defeats Konstantinos Lyratzis 2-0, Kimmo Lehtonen defeats Dominic Barrett 2-1, Piritta Kantola defeats Tim Mack 2-1, Darren Cundy defeats Remy Ong 2-1 and Marcus Berndt defeats Stuart Williams 2-1.

In Final step 3, Osku Palermaa defeated Robert Andersson 2-0, Joonas Jehkinen defeated Paul Moor 2-0, Britt Brondsted defeated Yu-Wen Lee 2-0, Martin Larsen defeated Kimmo Lehtonen 2-0, Petteri Salonen defeated Darren Cundy 2-0.

In Final step 4, Osku Palermaa defeated Joonas Jehkinen 2-1, Britt Bröndsted defeated Petteri Salonen 2-1, Pasi Uotila defeated Marcus Berndt 2-0 and Jouni Helminen defeated Martin Larsen 2-0

In the stepladder final, Jouni Helminen beat Pasi Uoti 192-159, Britt Bröndsted beat Jouni Helminen 222-216 and Osku Palermaa beat Britt Bröndsted 268-215 to win the title and 16,000 Euros first prize.
