The EBT ranking Malta Open is underway. Held at the 20 lane Eden Superbowl located in Malta's capital St Julians, it is the only EBT tournament to still feature seperate men's and women's divisions. Always a popular destination for bowlers wanting to combine a holiday and a bowling tournament, there is a strong UK contingent present including Gary Wilmott, Ian Runnacres, John Fitzsimmons, Karen Byrne, Mark Callaby, Mark Wells, Neville Wilson, Pat Byrne, Stu Little, Stuart Cobb, Carl Smith, Christopher Oates, Dominic Barratt, Ian Duff, Neil Highgate, Rob Kendall, Stu Williams, Vikki Burbridge, Wayne Finch, Josh Goldswaine, Lawrence Duffy, Nick Froggatt, Paul Adly, Philip Kargotis, Terry , Alan Edwards, Andy Bloor, Barry Eason, Chris Jones, Fiona Banks, John Chew, Julie Eason, Katie Jowsey, Kirsten Penny, Lee Chatfield, Lee Miller, Lol Ellis, Mark Ellis, Matt Crowther, Matt Hann, Steve Foley.

Denmark's Morten Levandovski and Mai Ginge Jensen bowl 300 games in qualifying. England's Stuart Williams bowls 300 game in round 2.



FORMAT - MEN
Rd 1: 12 games (two 6-game sets), cut to 72 - pinfall carried forward.
Rd 2: 72 play 4 games, cut to 36 – pinfall carried forward.
Rd 3: 36 play 4 games, cut to 18 – pinfall carried forward.
Rd 4: 18 play 4 games, cut to 8 – pinfall carried forward.
Rd 5: Single round robin with the following bonus points:
1 point per pin, 20 points per win, 10 points per tie, 5 points for games between 200 and 250, 10 points for games of 251 and over
Top 4 qualify for Finals, single-game stepladder matches

FORMAT - LADIES
Rd 1: 12 games (two 6-game sets), cut to 36 - pinfall carried forward.
Rd 2: 36 play 4 games, cut to 18 – pinfall carried forward.
Rd 3: 18 play 4 games, cut to 8 – pinfall carried forward.
Rd 4: Single round robin (same bonus point system as men’s section)
Top 4 qualify for Finals, single-game stepladder matches
