deciding on a ball is about as open ended as anything but what do all those figures mean and what should i be looking for?

I would go and visit a pro shop, i use either Stuart at the bowl in Bromborough or Steve in Selby.

They should be able to assess your bowling style, weight etc by watching you play the game, then discuss with you your requirements and then let them recommend a ball for you.

I have found both the above extremely helpful in all aspects of bowling.
