i used the bucket of hot water trick once, turn my blue ball into a white ball was not impressed when it came out, never the same after that.

Now im just to lazy to clean them lol.

You should clean your ball when you have finished bowling the same night. To remove the oil you should use a stong cleaner like Legends (smells bad but cleans good)Some balls soak up more oil than others so need more deep cleaning. Putting it in a bucket of very hot soapy water for half an hour turning it around so all of it gets done say once a month helps. A resurface is good if done properly will bring it back to orignal oob condition. lots of balls on the market does lose their striking power after 300 to 500 games and thats when you need another one and thats why the companies are rich and we are poor.
