There as been a bit of negativity recently about venues and I want to put a few things straight. Firstly Preston, it was brought back in because of the failure of Leigh, and was only not included in the first place until they did certain jobs which have now been done satisfactorily. So Division 3 will be going to Preston on 27th April. Secondly Barrow, having now unfortunately closed, it will be replaced by Burnley.
All I seem to hear is lets go to Blackburn instead. I know Blackburn is probably the best Centre we have at the moment but if we put all our eggs in one basket we could have those eggs all over our faces. No Centre is beyond being shut so we need as many Centres as possible on our side so choosing to go to firstly Ashton and now Burnley gives us two more Centres to possibly play at in future. I also intend in the next couple of weeks to go to Shipley and speak to the owner about possibly staging the NWF next season, also possibly visiting a couple more as well. We may not have the best Centres in the Country but if we have as many as possible on our side then it makes life that much easier when deciding were to play. I DO NOT INTEND FOR THE NWF TO STAY THE SAME AS IT AS FOR THE LAST 16 YEARS AND HOPE WE CAN ALL MOVE FORWARD TOGETHER. League Bowling in general is on the decline and I have no intentions of letting the NWF be part of it.

John, NOT Having a Go! But “North West 5s” You will soon have to change the name to the North East 5s. Have you checked the Boundaries! We are traveling farther away each year.

I agree with you John which is why the singles you run should of also been put around other centres to give techs the chance to put differant patterns down and try and please more bowlers so attract them to their centres to play in their leagues.Fred i hear what your saying but if our govening body cant get it right what do you expect did you know Walton Pier is in the North places like Norwich is north,but seriously Shipley would be a great venue and the centre is another owned by bowlers so should be good.

Fred I don't disagree I would like to see us playing at Chester, Ellesmere Port, Stockport, Bury, Morecambe, Mega bowl Preston and also we are between two of the biggest cities in the UK and neither off them has a decent league centre. In comparison to its population the City of Manchester is the most poorly served by bowling centres of any description.

John wouldnt say we havnt a good league centre as Ashton mancunian league 4"s has 18 teams for next years winter league Bat League 22 teams trios Wednesday league 16 teams trios and Thursday 14 teams trios and the YBC is full every saturday i think this stands up there with any bowling centre in the country but i hear what your saying hope we can help you next year.

Ashton is a good, clean centre but its not technically manchester. Worsley wasnt manchester, it was salford.

isnt there a bowl at parrs wood and there is a bowling alley in the trafford centre which uses brunswick lanes which are used at both blackburn and bradford.

has anyone considered rochdale bowl or maybe oldham? places ive never heard anybody mention before.
