Keighley 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I'm just wondering what everyone's thoughts were when they made the trip to Keighley last Sunday? I personally thought the lanes were very average which is concerning as in the past they have been good. For instance, the condition put down didnt hold up too long which I know is obvious these days on wooden lanes but more so here was the case. After the first game and the first game after lunch (and the re-dress) it seemed hard to create any drive to hit the pins, hence, carry became the problem. I spoke to quite a lot of people and they agreed. Far from it am I complaining it was more of a query to see if anyone else had the same issue?

Also, I'm not sure why and I heard a few possibilities why but does anyone know why we were put on the right side of the bowl as every other visit we were on the left? Therefore I'm forced to believe that these are the actual league lanes (presuming that leagues are actually bowled there this is)? Was this the bowl's decision or NW5's?
Any replies are appreciated. Hope your all well

i would have to agree with lee on this he is right about the drive to the pins there was none and i dont now if anyone else had the problem but i couldn't find a one lane the same as the next also john ralfs came up to me round about the thrid game saying that the where totaly different to last time we went no only that also the approach on lanes 13 and 14 weren't very good 13 approach had a dip where you slide and 14 had a bit of wood missing on the approach

When we played at Keighley last season in Div 3 they had something on the League lanes 1 to 10 and we played 11 to 20.At the end of the day I spoke to the manager and chief mech because the scores were excellent. The mech said that in his opinion 11 to 20 were better lanes as they do not take as much hammer so we have bowled on them every since in all divisions. Lane 8 was out so we could not have played there anyway yesterday.
I think it was plain and simple poor condition at the start you could not move the ball on the left after the re dress it was better but not enough drive. I think it will be a reasonable average but it could have been better. If everyone had Keighley's attitude we could not go wrong.

Hi john, just a quick one about a point u made. You say that the nw5s have been on lanes 11-20 ever since div 3 was there last season. However, we bowled on lanes 1 - 10 in div 1 earlier this season. Having never bowled there before, i can only say that the conditions were very good when div 1 played there and the oil held on the lanes well. Would be happy to go back again next season.
