Only 19 bowlers made the journey to Torquay for the 2009 matchplay this is the lowest turnout yet maybe a sign of the times!
All who took part seemed to enjoy the day with Tony Brown and Myself heading the qualifiers on 1318. This was Tony’s first outing for over three years usually to be seen with wife Angie round the team England tournaments. The cut was to the top sixteen this left Angie, Charlie Small and Graham Whitten (who retired with a bad back) to watch the rest of the day.
The matchplay saw Gordon Humphries go straight through the winners section only to loose the grand final to Eddie Broom 221 versus 199 and the rematch 230 versus 208. Keith Moore took third place with Tony Brown in fourth.
High Games went to Becky Moore and Tony Brown.
Thanks as always for Gill's support and her scoring, to Ruth and the bowl staff and to all who took part. Next years will be on the Monday so lets try and get some more entries.
Just leaves me to wish all bowlers no matter where a very happy and prosperous new year.
