The handicap division of the 2009 Sportsmanship Games doubles event was all about the balls with the champions We've Got Balls securing a 54 pin lead over second placed Pin Action. As with the scratch section it was a close affair, until you added the handicap pins in. Jason Hawkins and Sarah McCabe of team OSIMA found themselves rocketed in to third place, from the lower end of the table in the scratch section result of 37, with their 324 handicap pins. Sarah with an entering average of 124 had a bowltastic (EDITOR - sorry but I have always wated to use the word bowltastic) day with games of 137, 143 & 191 shooting a 471 which is an average of 157, 33 pins above her league average. We've Got Balls and Pin Action's jump was not as dramatic with them finishing in 4th and 5th in the scratch section respectivly however there were still some great results from them all with Martin Williamson of We've Got Balls shooting 48 pins above his average and Geoff Rens of Pin Action 31 above his average.
In a closely run event the SLAGTM pairing of Simon Marshall and Lee Burrows worked as a team and overcame the pressure of Happy Hedgehog's Laura Ivory and Brain Sims. The two teams had just a hairs whisker of one pin between them of after game two with SLAGTM on 266 and Happy Hedgehog on 265. After the third the gap was only slightly strengthened to four pins with SLAGTM on 1283 and Happy Hedgehogs on 1279.
