be.png Jenkins and Buysse win Belgian Senior Open

The Belgian Senior Open, held from Wednesday 15th August to Sunday 19th August at the Bowlmaster Bowling Club in Brussels, is very popular with UK senior bowlers with a large contingent going over each year to try to claim the 2000 Euro first prize. Last year saw success from England's Ron Oldfield and Jacqui Cooper and no one would bet against further success this year.

After the first 12 games of qualifying, Herman Wimmer led on 2966 with England's Ron Deacon second on 2825. Third was Sergio Bellini with 2823 and fourth was Al Jenkins with 2822. Yves van Damme rounded out the top five with 2761. Team UKtenpin's Mo Singleton lay in thirteenth on 2682 while other leading English bowlers at that point were Ron Oldfield sixteenth on 2662, Les Grant seventeenth on 2658, Bob Winckle twenty second on 2612 and Mike Halliwell twenty fourth on 2593.

The ETBF Congress met at the Ibis Hotel Mariahilf in Vienna, Austria to discuss changes to the European Federation rules. Changes were implemented to the European Youth Championships, the European Gold Cup, PBA members playing in the European Championships, limited ball check at championships and reduced number of presidium members.

Austria won the Trios title after defeating England's Dominic Barrett, Mike Quarry and Darren Cundy 658-608. England have to be consoled with the Silver medals. Finland (Osku Palermaa, Timo Alho, Petteri Salonen) and Denmark (Bo Winther Pedersen, Jesper Agerbo, Thomas Larsen) won Bronze medals.

The 2007 European Men's Championships is underway with the Doubles event being held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Held at the Plus Bowling Center in the Austrian capital of Vienna, the tournament runs until 10th July with doubles, trios and team events with an all events masters section. 35 countries and 208 bowlers are taking part. We will be keeping you updated with the scores.

Congratulations to Toby Webb and Rebecca Trevor who representing England at the European Gold Cup have finished 5th in the Mixed Doubles. Toby averaging 195.7 and Rebecca 175.5
