 Moor and Wiekeraad win 2008 Malta Open |
England's Paul Moor and the Netherlands' Bianca Wiekeraad have won the finals of the 2008 Malta Open held at the Eden Superbowl. Paul qualified second in the round robin and had to wait for the winner of the first match of the stepladder final between England's Stuart Williams and Belgium's Chris van Damme which Stuart won 223-219. Paul then defeated Stuart 268-238 to set up the title match against top qualifier England's Dom Barrett. Paul took the title with a 245-211 victory.
In the ladies final, Bianca Wiekeraad defeated Malta's Sue Abela226-215 and then defeated fellow compatriot Nicole Sanders 197-183. In the title match Bianca faced top seed England's Kirsten Penny. A close game went Bianca's way 238-236 to claim the title for the Netherlands.
